FRP/GRP Handrails
Handrails are a crucial aspect of safety in various environments, and at SPI, we take pride in offering premium-grade pultruded profiles for handrail systems that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and durability. Our pultruded profiles are crafted from premium-grade isophthalic polyester or vinyl ester resins, ensuring exceptional performance and fire retardancy that complies with stringent standards such as UL94 V-0, ASTM D-635, and ASTM D-84. With a nominal 60% E-glass reinforcement, our profiles guarantee superior strength and reliability.
Meeting the loading requirements outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), our handrail systems are designed to withstand a minimum live load of a 200lb concentrated load at any point or a uniform load of 75kg/m, with a safety factor of 4.0. To ensure compliance and reliability, load/deflection tests are conducted at our own QC premises using rigorous testing procedures.
Our handrail systems come in two types: Round tube handrails and Square tube handrails. The Round tube handrail features dimensions of 50×3.2mm for top/middle rail and post, with tee and cross connectors for rail connections. Kickrails are constructed with 100x5mm thickness, utilizing side or base plate connectors. On the other hand, the Square tube handrail boasts dimensions of 55x6mm for posts and rails, with 45x3mm connectors for rail connections and 100x5mm kickrails.
For assembly and fixation, Type SS bolts/nuts/washers are provided, ensuring secure and reliable installation. Our laminates are meticulously crafted to ensure a flawless finish, with no exposed glass, voids, or dry glass. The outermost layer is equipped with a synthetic surface veil and UV inhibitor in the resin, offering resistance to ultraviolet degradation and ensuring long-lasting performance.
In adherence to industry standards, our handrail systems adhere to specific technical data guidelines. Vertical post spacing is capped at 1200mm, while inclined post spacing follows the same limit. Post locations are strategically positioned within a range of 450mm to 250mm from a change in handrail direction. The standard height for horizontal handrails is 1050mm, while inclined handrails measure at 900mm.
